Coway vs Cuckoo: price, filtration and 5-year cost compared

Last checked 6 Aug 2026 · Facts and figures pulled live from this site's dataset.

Coway and Cuckoo are both Korean-origin brands running in-house field-service teams in Singapore, but they publish very different amounts of pricing data on their own sites. Coway's own product pages are client-rendered and didn't expose prices to this research pass; only one of its three models here has any published SG price at all, sourced one hop removed via a price-comparison aggregator that attributes the listing to Coway's official Shopee storefront rather than Coway's own site. Cuckoo publishes a purchase price and an annual care-package price directly on each product page.

Price and five-year cost

Coway AIS is priced at $3,088, per the BigGo Singapore aggregator's listing of "Coway Singapore Official Store" on Shopee — the Shopee page itself didn't return readable content to automated fetching, so this figure couldn't be independently re-verified on the retailer page directly. No filter, servicing or warranty cost is published for AIS, so its five-year total ($3,088) is the purchase price alone. Coway Icon 2 and Coway Mate have no usable SG price at all: Icon 2 wasn't listed by any source checked, and Mate appeared only as an unusable range ("$588.00–$738.00") with no single standard figure. Cuckoo publishes a purchase price and an annual CUCKOO+ Care Service Package fee for all three models, giving complete five-year totals: KIUT $3,099, King Top 2 $3,649, XCEL 2 $4,349. Those totals assume the household renews the optional care package every year — it's the only source of filter-replacement cost Cuckoo publishes; skip it and there's no published way to price filter replacement at all. Among models with any complete computed total, the cheapest is Cuckoo KIUT at $3,099.

Filtration and what's actually certified

Neither brand's SG pages confirm an RO or UF classification for any model here. Coway AIS is marketed elsewhere, on Malaysia-market sources not used for this SG dataset, as "6-stage RO filtration combined with dual UV sterilisation," but that isn't confirmed on an SG source, so all three Coway models are recorded as unclassified ("other"). Cuckoo doesn't call its filtration RO or UF on any of its three product pages either — XCEL 2 brands it a "Nano Positive Filtration System"; King Top 2 and KIUT use similarly branded "Nano Positive" filter names — so all three are recorded as unclassified too. No certification with a stated tested scope is published for any of the six models. Cuckoo's XCEL 2 carries a JAKIM Halal claim (food-contact compliance, not a filtration standard), and KIUT cites bacteria-elimination testing by a Korean institute without a published scope — both recorded in notes only, not as certifications.

Tank, tankless and temperatures

Coway AIS and Icon 2 are tank-based hot/cold/ambient units; AIS adds a bullet-ice maker. Coway Mate is a non-electric, mains-pressure, ambient-only dispenser. Cuckoo King Top 2 and XCEL 2 are tank-based hot/cold/ambient, marketed for larger households (4–8 people); KIUT is tankless, ambient-only, a simple one-button room-temperature dispenser.

Footprint and installation

Dimensions are largely unpublished on both sides. Coway publishes no width, depth, height or weight for any of its three models on an SG-official or SG-retailer source (Malaysia-site figures exist but are excluded under this dataset's sourcing rules). Cuckoo KIUT is the only model in this matchup with full published dimensions (135×388×364mm, 4kg); XCEL 2 publishes weight only (14.1kg); King Top 2 publishes neither. On installation fee, Coway states none for any model; Cuckoo's XCEL 2 states $0 ("FREE Delivery & Installation"), while King Top 2 and KIUT don't repeat that claim and are left unstated rather than assumed.

Service and warranty terms

Both brands confirm in-house field technicians — Coway via its Heart Service page, Cuckoo via its CUCKOO+ Care specialists. Neither publishes a warranty-years figure for any model in this matchup; Cuckoo's XCEL 2 states "FREE Service & Warranty" is included with purchase but not its duration. Cuckoo is the more transparent of the two on ongoing cost: it states an explicit annual care-package price ($300–$350) for every model, where Coway states none.

Verdict

This is analysis from the stated criteria above — not an overall ranking. See methodology.

Choose Coway if

  • You want a countertop hot/cold/ambient dispenser with a bullet-ice maker and are comfortable buying without a published warranty, filter-cost or dimension figure (Coway AIS).

Choose Cuckoo if

  • You want a five-year running cost you can actually compute from published numbers — Cuckoo states an annual filter-service price for all three models here; Coway states one for none.
  • You need a large-household tank dispenser (4–8 people) with hot, cold and ambient output.
  • You want full published dimensions and weight — only Cuckoo's KIUT covers that in this matchup.

Neither, if

A stated warranty term in years matters to you before buying — neither brand publishes one for any of these six models.
