The Water Purifier Index

A maintained, sourced dataset of purifiers sold in Singapore. Dimension leaders, never an overall score.

About

Who publishes this, and why

Ownership

The Singapore Water Purifier Index is published by PFE Technologies Pte Ltd, the operator of Velta Singapore (velta.sg) and homesmart.sg. Velta is a water purifier brand and appears in this dataset as one of 9 brands — it is not the publisher's only interest, and it is not treated as a default winner. When Velta appears in a comparison page, that page carries a visible disclosure line saying so.

This matters because it's a real conflict of interest, and hiding it would make every number on this site less trustworthy. We'd rather state it plainly and let the sourced data speak for itself than pretend the site has no owner.

Why this exists

Singapore's tap water is already safe to drink — PUB reports it suitable for direct consumption, backed by over 500,000 tests a year. Most purifier marketing in this category leans on that gap being unclear to shoppers, pointing at fear rather than an actual, verifiable need. The purifier market here is also opaque in a specific, fixable way: prices are hard to compare across brands, filter costs are often hidden entirely, and “certified” claims rarely say what was actually tested.

This site exists to fix the opacity, not to talk anyone into or out of buying a purifier. If tap water suits you, this dataset says so on every relevant page. If you want one for taste, temperature, convenience, or sparkling water, the comparison and cost tools here are built to show the real, dated numbers behind that choice.

Dimension leaders, never an overall score

This site does not publish a single ranking of “best” purifier, and it never will without publishing the exact formula and weights first. Instead, where a superlative is shown — cheapest over 5 years, smallest footprint, only model with a given feature — it is one reproducible comparison over one published field, restricted to models that actually have that field published. Corrections policy

Every fact here carries a source link and a verified date so it can be checked independently. If a brand or reader spots an error — a stale price, a misclassified spec, a missing update — we correct it promptly and note the correction against the affected fact's verified_at the next time the page is rebuilt. This dataset is re-verified on a quarterly cycle at minimum (see methodology); if that cadence is ever missed for two consecutive quarters, treat the affected figures as unreliable until the next verified update.
